A TRIP TO SEAWORLD IN ORLANDO, FL

Tips for traveling with your toddler(s).

We took our son to SeaWorld last Friday (Feb 1 2008) and it was wonderful. We had forgotten to bring our umbrella stroller, but they have strollers that you can rent for the day. Most of the time, our son walked or rode on daddy's shoulders.

The first animals we saw inside were some great big sea turtles. GREAT and BIG! My son loved to look at them.

The first show we saw was the sea lion show and it was so funny. I do have to warn parents that some kids seemed to get scared by the seal ions when they had them make noise. (Just prep your kids by roaring like lions before it starts. Make it fun, not scary.) But the show was hilarious and the animals were fun to watch. We sat in the 4th row and didn't get wet, but could see everything going on.

After the show we went to the Sea Lion and Seals habitat area to watch all the animals swim around. They are very active and fun to watch. It was great and you can even buy some food to throw to the animals. We didn't need to buy any food, since everyone around us was already feeding the animals. It was great because we could watch the fun, but not get our hands dirty!

Next we went to the Penguin house. Inside you ride on a moving sidewalk and just watch all the penguins inside, above and below water. It was a nice peaceful break, from the sun and walking. You can also see the puffins in there too! So cute!

After that we headed over to the Shark Encounter area. Outside there was a tank where you could look at sharks. We didn't make it inside.

(Side note for parents that want to have a good time too: visit the hospitality house if you like beer. You can get FREE beer and reserve a spot for some beer tasting. They even have a special kids room in there so your children can watch a movie or color while you learn about some beers)

We took a look at the Clydesdale Horses next to the Hospitality House where you can take a picture with one of these beautiful creatures.

Next we finally made it to the fun Kids area. My son immediately wanted to climb up on the pirate ship and use the water guns. The kids area is right across from the Shamu stadium, so we planned to hang out there until the 1:30 Shamu show. This proved to be a good idea, because we could see all of the people going into the show and decided that we should get some seats. Again a good idea, because the show closed because it was full. My husband had already gone inside with my son while I went to get some food. When I returned, they told me it was closed, but I mentioned that my husband and child were inside. They escorted me to where he was. (Normally, if there are a couple of adults, you'll need to have one adult come out to get you but since my husband couldn't leave my son, they had to escort me in.)

The Shamu Show (Believe) was wonderful. It is amazing what they can do with the animals. When it was over around 2:30 I could tell that my son was getting tired since it was his nap time. We headed over to the roller coaster so that I could have a fun thrill and then decided to head home.

We didn't see everything yet...but we live only 3 miles away and intend to go back. I'll give another report soon!
