MAKE
A "TOY BOX" BOOK
Don't throw out that cardboard packing box for
that toy just yet! It has some great pictures for you to make your own book
with your child. Take the box and cut out the pictures on it. Save them up
and when you are ready, make a book using the cutouts. Take a piece of
paper, and ask your child which cutout she wants to use and tape/glue it to
the paper.
For younger toddlers, let them scribble with crayons around the cutout. Talk about what you see in the pictures and what colors are there. Count then letters, or images. When done, be sure to number the pages with big written numbers and let your toddler count with you.
For the older toddlers ( preschoolers) ask your child what she wants to say about the picture in the book. You'll be surprised at what they come up with! Here's an example for you to enjoy with some Lego boxes we used.
